My Cancer Story

Motherhood is the best reason to take care of yourself. It was important to me to prepare myself mentally, spiritually, and physically before embarking on my next chapter of life, motherhood. When I began my journey of trying to conceive, I dove deep into health education, and used this time to begin making lifestyle changes that would support my body and my spirit through pregnancy. I began the work of fueling my body with nutrient-dense whole foods, hydrating myself with filtered water, moving my body, and ridding my home of toxins, to create a safe environment for my pregnancy both internal and external. I nourished my mind and soul with positive affirmations and meditation, which prepared me for the stages of labor. As I entered my postpartum period, I nurtured my body with rest and nutrient dense foods to support my healing process.

Fast forward 15 months postpartum, I could feel that my immune system was weakened. My body felt plagued and I became very sick. During this time, I discovered a lump in my breast that led me to a diagnosis of breast cancer. Being a new mom and receiving a diagnosis of breast cancer led me to experience a whirlwind of emotions. I knew that my life had changed drastically, and would never be the same moving forward. I went through multiple surgeries, 20 rounds of treatment, and began working endlessly with an Integrative Oncologist to heal my body from the inside out. It was important to me to address the root cause of my cancer and use an integrative approach to rid my body of disease. Through this process, I have learned an immense amount of information about myself and my body. I began protocols of detoxing my body, rebuilding my gut health, eliminating inflammatory foods from my diet, eating whole foods, reducing my toxin load and restoring my peace. This healing did not happen overnight. With the foundations of healthy habits, I am making strides each day towards a healthy, healing body and soul.
